Despite its short history, Kellogg College has a proud sporting tradition! This is reflected in the college's exceptional contribution to the Oxford Blues rugby and rowing squads. The college offers a number of teams and activities and is working continuously to provide sports facilities for its members.

Football

Group contact: George Taylor
I’m George Taylor, Captain of the Kellogg College Association Football Team. The MCR Sports Secretary, Stephen Courtney, formed us in Michaelmas 2012. I got involved from the start, thinking it would be a great thing to help with the development of Kellogg’s presence on the sports field and beyond, and my Captaincy has stemmed from that! My course runs for two years so I’m pleased to be able to add some continuity to the team and oversee us into our second season, and it has been great to be part of something just getting started (after all, Kellogg is very new in the grand scheme of Oxford Colleges). We play in the MCR league and in the Cuppers, with fixtures in Michaelmas and Hilary terms. We also train once a week, with home fixtures played on the University Parks, five minutes from Kellogg. If anyone is interested in getting involved, please do get in contact with Stephen or me: it’s a great opportunity to be part of our College’s first team!

Basketball

Group contact: Glenn Davis
My name is Glenn and I'm a MSc student in the Dept. of Education, originally from Canada. We have a very casual basketball group for people who have some interest in playing and I'm going to try to set up some casual games/shootarounds when the weather gets a bit nicer. We also have an affiliation with the Wolfson College Cuppers team, and they're really looking for more players, so everyone is free to join that as well. Email me or join our facebook group for more information!

Rugby

OURFC runs a weekly touch rugby programme with a view to attracting novices into the game and stopping the post school drop off in participation. It will be supported by O2 touch which means official touch balls and RFU/O2 branding.

The format is as follows:

  • 7 a side mixed teams, of which 5 must be new to rugby or not played competitively in the last season
  • Teams can represent colleges, societies, socially-binding forces... whatever you like!
  • Each session will consist of a tournament, so we will be crowning a winner each week.
  • There must be minimum of 1 girl per team
  • The players of the winning team of each week will be given a prize each
  • All participants will be given free stash!

Turn up every Thursday this term at 4pm in the University Parks for 90 minutes of fun, relaxed rugby, free stash and hopefully sunshine!
The first session is 25th April.

Jogging club

Group contact: Orlaith de Burca
Come jogging at Kellogg!
The Kellogg Jogging Club (AKA the Kel-Joggers) is an informal running group at Kellogg. The general plan is to get together 2-3 times a week to go for a short run in the University Parks at a variety of paces. We also attend the ParkRun in Oxford on Saturday mornings (a free chip timed 5km race). Whether you have never run before and would like to start or you are a cross-country running champion, everyone is welcome! The group is not exclusively for Kelloggians so please feel free to invite your friends to join. If you're interested, join our Facebook group or email me for more information.
