Extraordinarily excited to make my first post, very appropriately, on the Part-time Students message board!
For my first post I thought I'd make a list of some of the exciting things going on in Oxford over the coming months that Part-timers can look up if they pop into the city.
First up:
You probably already know that your University library is home to a Gutenberg Bible, Shakespeare's First Folio and a Crocodile, but did you know it also holds first editions of Harry Potter, Tolkien's very first drafts of 'The Hobbit' (written on student's exam papers!) and even a 17th-century, marble table used to communicate with angels?
Well this summer the library is holding a FREE exhibition to showcase all it's magical treasures:
You're also entitled (as long as you remember your student card!) to enter the library rooms where they filmed 'Harry Potter' but also to make use of all of the library's physical and digital facilities. If you haven't headed to the Bodleian yet, you can ask any librarian for help or if you need remote access to it's huge digitized collections away from Oxford you can 'ask a librarian' at any time though the library's skype-style service:
Don't forget to check out all the FREE events taking place at The Ashmolean Museum:
From 'Live Friday' music nights to children's activities, whether you're visiting Oxford alone or with Little Ones in-toe you can always find something fun to do in Oxford this summer.
These are just a few of the things going in Oxford over the coming months, if you know of any more please feel free to post them here!
